Just a quick reminder for everyone who might be visiting, we do have a forum for y’all! To get there, you can either click on the Web Services tab, or you can click here. Once you arrive, go ahead and sign up. It’ll generally take about 24 hours before you’re authenticated, and then you can communicate with everyone in the organization. If you don’t want to have to wait 24 hours, try to catch someone with office hours. They’ll do their level best to get your account activated immediately. We hope to see you soon!

This Wednesday, April 22, ACM is having its final general meeting for this year. We will be electing our officers for next year, so, if you would like to run for a position of some sort or just vote on the new leadership, you need to come to this meeting! Make sure to bring everyone who would like to join ACM.
On a slightly different topic, this site is linked to from the Nedderman Hall wikipedia page! Thank you to whoever did this!

-We have a photo gallery again! Unfortunately, we don’t have any pictures yet… Don’t worry, they’ll be up soon.
-All of the dead links are gone! The pages might only offer a description of what will be there eventually, but at least they go somewhere.
-Various pages have been cleaned and updated to reflect the current situation.
At this rate, we might finally have everything fixed by the end of next week. Make sure to join the forums as soon as you can.

As you may or may not have noticed, there have been a lot of updates to the ACM @ UTA homepage, and there are many more on the way. The biggest update so far has been to the archives page. Here you can see all of the old news posts, officer meeting notes, and assignments from Chau. This page is continuously being updated so check it out at least once a week.
With regards to our physical office, Chau has gone to the trouble of making it very boo-tiful. If you haven’t been there in a while, come by during our office hours for some trick-or-treating fun.
Also, there are two other major programming groups on campus that we would like to promote.
The Programming Club has been on campus for several years in the guise of the ICPC group, but they have recently changed their name while keeping the same format. Their goal is to promote better programming, compete in nationwide competitions, as well as having lots of fun. They meet once a week on Fridays at 5 PM in the CSE 1105 labs on the first floor.
The Assocation for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) just recently formed a chapter for the first time ever at UTA. They plan to work together to design and make an artificially intelligent sock puppet to display all around campus to promote both engineering and the many different colleges at UTA. They usually meet on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at noon in the AI lab on the second floor.

Unfortunately, during the past (2008) summer, the ACM webserver hard drive failed. That’s why our website has been down for the past few months. But, thanks to the kind and timely assistance of Bito and the CSE computer services team, we now have a new hard drive, and our webserver is back up and running.
We have some work to do in that we now have to re-create a lot of content that was lost. Right now most pages on this website do not work. But a lot will be added during the next school year, and hopefully more after that as ACM continues to thrive and serve UT Arlington students.
Commenting and forums probably do not work at this time, but you can always email us at acm.uta@gmail.com
